This article discusses the problem of achieving equivalence of translation of a literary text. Based on G. bell's short story "Mein teures Bein" an analysis of translation transformations that help solve the main translation difficulties is presented. The study identifies the types of translation transformations that have the greatest potential to overcome the linguo-ethnic barrier.
