This article discusses the circumstances of the transition of the red commander S.N. Bulak-Balakhovich, together with his regiment on the White side in 1918 in the region of Pskov. The study is based both on published memoirs of participants in those events, and on archival materials. The authors specify the date of the beginning of the transition and the number of fighters who have crossed Balakhovich. The motives of Bulak-Balakhovich and his entourage are also analyzed. The authors conclude that the transition was influenced by many factors.
