The article describes and critically evaluates approaches to teaching a grammar of a foreign language. New types of grammar creative exercises are proposed that are based on gaming technologies and are aimed at enhancing the intellectual activity of Chinese students studying Russian at the level A2. These exercises should take into account the cognitive and psychological strategies used by this contingent of students when learning foreign language. Promising is the development of exercises using computer and mobile technologies.
