The article deals with Russia-Canada relations at the regional level from the beginning of the 1990s to the present time. It considers special features of the external relations of the sub-national units of both federations. It is emphasized that the provinces of Quebec and Alberta showed the greatest interest in the development of contacts with Russian regions. It shows the main stages of development of their cooperation with subjects of the Russian Federation. Special attention is paid to the relations between Quebec and Tatarstan as well as Quebec and Leningradskaya oblast, because those relations are the most successful and multifaceted. It is emphasized that in the current crisis period the development of relations between the Canadian provinces and the regions of the Russian Federation can positively affect relations between Moscow and Ottawa.
