The history of the initial phase of British expansion in the Northern and North-Western Atlantic has a lot of gaps, due to a very limited number of sources. All these sources were published several times and they are well known to researchers. In the article we will focus on two new manuscripts that were discovered by British historian Margaret Condon in the National archives of the U.K. in the early 1980s, but only in the beginning of the XXI century they were published. These so called Condon documents allows a new look at the role of king Henry VII in the organization of the first English expeditions in the North Atlantic which led to the discovery of the East Coast of North America. They also show that at the very end of the XV century an English expedition of William of Weston visited the region. This expedition has not previously been known.
