The important role of Latin American countries in international politics constantly attracts the attention of the media. Foreign media ambiguously interpret the events that take place in this region. The same ambiguous approach is noticeable in foreign press picturing of a modern image of Russia. The article addresses the situation that develops in Cuba, one of the three "Antilles countries". The main goal is to identify the features of political agitation and means of creating politically advantageous image of Russia in Cuban quality press. We pay extra attention to how and with the help of what methods of political discourse an image of Russia and its president is created in analytical texts. The materials for the study are the articles published on the site prensalatina in the period of 2018-2019, devoted to the election of the President of Russia V. Putin on March 18, 2018.
