One of the parts of the church literary monument about monks' life in Kievo-Pechersky monastery shows us the lows reality of the end of 11 century. In the tale about St. Grigoriy the Wondermaker it is mentioned about the hanging of a guilty person and a possibility to pay of a blood penalty. It, what was considered by scientists, is a mention about capital punishment. But there is a good reason to believe that such a practice appeared after princes Yaroslavitchi cancelled the blood feud. Such a compensatory action against murders is the intermediary form between blood fued and death penalty in their usial sense.
