The comparison between families with blind and deaf children demonstrates differences in coping-style of both, mothers and their children. The families with blind adolescents were characterized by stronger negative emotions after stressful situations and a more active use of inadequate coping in comparison with the families with deaf children. Specific features were found in coping-style by deaf adolescents as well as by their mothers - a more active use of internal coping. The lack of dynamics or the prolongation of negative stressful emotions till the end of the day, testify to a poorer mental adjustment of blind adolescents in comparison with the deaf children.
