The review briefly analyzes the content of two monographs by the prominent Ukrainian historian V.F. Soldatenko devoted to the study of the problem of Ukrainian-Russian relations in 1917-1924: "Ukrainian-Russian relations in 1917-1924: the collapse of the old and the acquisition of the new: a brief historical and historiographical essay. In two volumes", "Ukraine is in a whirlpool of foreign policy alternatives. Historical digression in 1917-1922". It is concluded that the idea of equal and mutually beneficial allied relations between Russia and Ukraine is of particular value from the historical experience of Russian-Ukrainian relations.
