The article analyzes the formation of the country's political image in the media, using the example of the image of Russia in the press of Brazil, Portugal, Nicaragua and El Salvador. The aim of the study is, through a linguistic analysis of article titles, to determine the image characteristics of Russia, which are conveyed to the readership. Positive and negative image characteristics are formed through the use of evaluative and expressive vocabulary, irony, as well as certain types of headlines with different pragmatic potential.
