The article analyzes the concept of emotional intelligence and the basic psychological prerequisites for its formation at preschool age. The features of preschoolers development, in particular the features of cognitive development and psycho-emotional sphere, as well as the psychology of teaching foreign languages in preschool age are outlined. It gives the theoretical basis of necessity to develop emotional intelligence during teaching the basics of foreign language in preschool age. It presents the tools for the emotional intelligence formation in preschoolers during English as a foreign language classes.
