The paper aims to reveal specificity of semantics of verbs nominating memory processes in political discourse. The research material includes fragments of speeches delivered by the British high-ranking politicians over the last 30 years. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher shows how the speaker’s intentions determine their choice of verbs nominating memory processes and proves that the memory verbs the speaker chooses correlate with the type of memory (individual, national, cultural) he refers to. The research findings are as follows: the author identifies specificity of verbal manifestation of different memory types and describes differences in semantics of verbs representing individual, national and cultural memory.
