In 20th century Nikolaus Cusanus had appeared surprisingly actual thinker. In Russian philosophy its heritage most obviously had been used by S.L. Frank and L.P. Karsavin. After Cusanus Franc understands Absolute as self-sufficient and "aloof, not allowing to exist near to itself to anything relative. In this case the world and person are completely dissolved in the Absolute, they can be understood only through Absolute. However in Nikolaus' treatises the specified tendency is combined with idea of accident of the created world, i.e. not its full submission to Absolute. The reason of this accident is that created world is "the stay of God in nothing", where nothing appears independent of the Absolute. Karsavin shows that this tendency goes back to the doctrine of antique gnostics. As a result of such understanding of the act of creation the original doctrine about the person appears where the person is understood as potentially absolute being called in the terrestrial life to realize the divine essence, to become equal to God (in Cusanus' treatises - to Christ).
