A resurgence of interest for foreign literature is observed on the edge of XIX-XX centuries. This phenomenon acquired its features which allow speaking of it as of an essential problem: such a «massive discharge» of translated literature into the area of French culture has never occurred, so the opponents of this phenomenon got a reason to call it «literature invasion»; it has never become an object of serious research of specialists before; the event turned out not only literary but acquired a pronounced political aspect; it was at the end of XIX century when appears such a phenomenon in France as a «mass reader» and reading ceases to be a destiny of certain (high) social status people only. Finally, the most important thing: similar phenomenon has never influenced so much on the national literary process.
