The scientific legacy of S. S. Averintsev and S. N. Broitman allows us not to dwell on
well-established knowledge about the nature and essence of the visual in literature and serves as a beginning for his new interpretation. The article offers system of reasoning about the visual in its relation to prose and poetry, to the literary genera.
