The article presents the results of a qualitative study of the motivation methods that teachers use to enhance Russian teenage students’ willingness to communicate in English. Interviews and surveys with 25 teachers cover issues related to the group atmosphere, class activities and topics for communication, the role of interlocutors and techniques that could be used to stimulate communication in English class.
