International organizations are witnessing not the best of times: the frequent accusations of inefficiency against even the most powerful of organizations are heard from across the expert community and mass media. In regard with the international communities, they are even in a worse situation. Traditionally the attention is paid higher to the mass-meetings of anti-globalization movements during the every G7 summit than to the summits themselves. The objective of this article is to define the role of Sweden as the country-hipster in the international organizations and communities. The article notes the high level of participation of Sweden in international organizations but ignorance of the international communities. In the beginning, this article sets the conceptual borders for the different international units. The article considers the Swedish ambitions as a global leader on the case of UN participation, modern nature of partnership with the NATO and participation in regional organizations and communities. In addition, the article highlights the role of Sweden in international humanitarian projects even without the participation in such fora as G7 or G20 but with clear impact by deed, not by words.
