The article is devoted to the study of the mechanisms of attracting young people to participate in social movements on the example of St. Petersburg. The study was conducted by focus groups. The purpose of the study is to clearly identify the ways and tools for attracting young people to participate in social movements. In order to achieve this goal, the following tasks were set and solved in the research process: to understand what attracts young people of St. Petersburg to social movements and political organizations; to study the conditions under which young residents of St. Petersburg can take an active civil position; identify what interferes and what helps the processes of inclusion in an active citizenship; to explore possible ways to enhance the dialogue between the authorities and young residents of St. Petersburg, as well as the factors that will contribute to this process and delay its development.
