The article is dedicated to the insufficiently studied problem of comparative-typological analysis of the principles of a Russian literature studies mythopoetic school of the 20th century and Russian symbolism theory. The subject of the study is literary works of D. E. Maksimov (1904– 1987), who is one of the acknowledged researchers of the A. A. Blok’s talent. The analysis of the main Maksimov’s works showed that he refers to the foreign scientists such as N. Frye, M. Eli-ade, J. Campbell, M. Bodkin and also researches who specialized in philosophy and semantics of the myth at the same time with him in 1960–1980s (E. M. Miletinsky, A. F. Losev, V. N. Topo-rov). It is shown that Maksimov frequently quoted Ivanov’s articles from his books “On the Stars” (1909), “Furrows and Boundaries” (1916) and others while working on the principles of mythopoetic. The ideas of Russian symbolism theorist defined some of his approaches to the “main myth” of Alexander Blok as an “idea of the way” and also his understanding of text procreative nature of images-symbols as integrators of archetypic important phenomena of consciousness. Ivanov’s phenomenological approach to the study of the myth had an influence on Maksimov. His ideas in 1970–1980s evolved at the same time with his disciples and fol-lowers such as Z. G. Mintz, I. S. Prihodko, A. Payman, A. V. Lavrov and others who developed and extended them. That is why, Maksimov’s works anticipated discoveries in the studies of Alexander Blok’s mythopoetic at the end of 20th and beginning of 21th century.
