The article deals with the problem of criminal legal qualifcation of defensive actions in cases
of domestic violence. The analysis of judgments showed the existence of several ap-proaches to qualify these
crimes committed in legally identical situations. To ensure uniformity in the practice of applying the norms
of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on necessary defense, the author suggests that the Supreme
Court of the Russian Federation should give detailed explanations on some typical situations.
