The paper is focused on the mediation as one of the communicative competencies together with listening, reading, writing and speaking. Mediation is also considered as a way of communication as well as perception, production, and interaction. The authors present the text mediation, mediation of conceptual task problem solving, and the mediation of communication. The skills implemented during the text mediation are described in detail. Di erent steps realized when dealing with the scienti c text at the foreign language class by the chemistry students are depicted. In foreign language teaching mediation is regarded as the aim and means of teaching.
