The article deals with translations of the works of the French writer Romain Rolland, which were made in the second half of the 1910s. for Gorky publishing house "World Literature" by the historian-medievalist I.M. Graves (1860-1941). As a conclusion, it can be noted that the master of the biographical genre, historian I.M. Grevs was a great connoisseur of the work of the French writer, and as a literary historian, he was one of the first in Russia to analyze his epic novel “Jean Christophe”, which made an undeniable contribution to literary criticism and helped strengthen ties between Russian and French cultures.
