The task of quantifying the dynamics of greenhouse gas emissions was brought to the spotlight after scientific community recognized the problem of global climate change and its anthropogenic nature. The main factor in anthropogenic greenhouse gases build up is the burning of fuel for the needs of industry and transport. Economic growth without growing pollution is possible only due to decline in energy intensity and carbon intensity of GDP.In this paper we analyse the convergence of GDP energy intensity and carbon intensity in the post-Soviet world. Also we estimate environmental Kuznets curve for СО2 emissions, using panel data for the former Soviet Republics.
