This article raises the topic of the significance and role of social responsibility in cntcrpriscsin preempting conflicts in organizations. There are different approaches to the idea and need for the application of the concept of social responsibility in enterprises. This concept suggests actions directed at the support and development of employees and the local communities and regions in which the organization functions. A special role in the solution of this issue belongs to large companies which possess great opportunities for the transformation and development of their employees and all of society in aspects such as social, economic and ecological among others. In Russia the situation with regard to companies’ social responsibility has a specific character. In the recent past in our country the social functioning and social development of enterprises were the most important constituent elements of their general economic strategy. Within the confines of the organizations many important social problems were resolved, manifesting in the satisfaction of a significant part of the socioeconomic demands of the employees. The market transformations at the beginning of the nineties led to qualitative changes in the social processes in enterprises and transformed the character and content of the social policies of companies. As a result of reform, privatization and reconstruction, the volume of social activities was significantly reduced. The main reason for this was insufficient financial means. This gave rise to a range of social problems and conflicts within companies. This was confirmed by the results of applied sociological investigations undertaken by heavy industrial enterprises in Saint Petersburg, which showed that the reduction of attention towards social policy in organizations notably reflects on the working collective, on their attitude to work, on their self-esteem and mood. evoking a mass of problems and conflicts. This is a factor enabling the violation of the bases of normal reproduction by the collective. The improvement of the system of social management in the organization is the most important task when overcoming this complicated situation, taking into account all of the peculiarities of the modem functioning of an enterprise. Today, many companies are more and more aware of the advantages of socially responsible conduct in business and making social functions exist to avert conflictual situations and ever closer approach an understanding of the need for informational openness.
