The article is devoted to the problem of the theoretical definition and quantitative assessment of the channels of the relationship between inflation and inequality. Using the example of foreign countries, it is shown that inflation can affect the level of inequality through incomplete income indexing, through inflationary shocks, imbalances in the relative price system, as well as various institutional channels. The results of quantitative research presented in the article prove that inflation was more often the cause of inequality both in foreign countries and in Russia. At the same time, the experience of foreign countries
suggests that inequality under certain conditions can also be the cause of inflation
