The author describes the experiment in organizing essay writing of Intermediate level students of non-linguistic departments. The experiment shows that guided interactive techniques which are aimed at preparing students to cope with essay-writing appear to be rather effective on the way to encouraging writing activities and lead to long-term academic results.
