The article considers one of implicit expert evaluation strategies, frequently used in academic linguistic reviews written in German. The results of the structural, contextual and communicative-pragmatic analysis provide a range of specific linguistic means, used by academic review authors in order to evaluate publications implicitly, “by contradiction”.
