The paper is dedicated to the use of the active voice in the intransitive construction in Old Armenian. Synthetic verb forms capable of expressing the voice category commonly take mediopassive endings in the intransitive construction. However, there are numerous exceptions that can be explained either by the synchronic Old Armenian grammar, or with recourse to the diachronic analysis. The paper aims at elucidating lexical and morphological properties of such verbs. In particular, the study shows that the active voice is rather consistently used in the intransitive verbs denoting agentive directed motions, activities, and controlled states. Such verbs tend to have active voice endings throughout the paradigm. Another general feature consists in the tense-aspect split of the voice marking: the present subjunctive generally takes the same voice as the present indicative, while the aorist subjunctive takes that of the aorist indicative in the case of mixed voice inflections.
