The article suggests the author’s new version of periodising the cultures of the Bronze Age for the South of Eastern Europe (steppe, forest steppe, the North Caucasus) of the 4th–2nd Millennia B.C.; the periodising is based on the technological criterion. The three stages of bronze casting’s development conditionally corresponding to the intervals of the Early, Middle and Late Bronze Age differ technologically with regard to the compositions of the metallic alloys, types of casting moulds, morphology of end items.
