The article describes the place and role of Germany in the European Union since its creation, notes the goals and objectives of Germany as a member state of the EU, and emphasizes its leading role in this organization. The author considered the impact of Brexit on the role and prospects of Germany in the EU and concluded that there are more negative aspects in view of the upcoming exit of the UK from the European Union than positive ones. However, along with new challenges, there are also positive aspects which can be used by the leaders of Germany.
