The article discusses English adjective precedent units, derived from proper names - anthroponyms, buzz words in media discourse in particular. Precedent units are understood as those of different levels of structural and semantic complexity, which, firstly, are well-known to representatives of a particular linguistic community; secondly, such units have additional cognitive or lexical-semantic potential, which allows them to be used in the word-formation process, as well as in the creation of all kinds of allusions. The main onomasiological models of one-word adjective precedent units are considered, certain issues of translating such units are analyzed. The main structural types of variability of English adjective precedent units formed from proper names - anthroponyms are given. The group of adjective precedent units derived from proper names includes numerous derivatives formed by different types of word-formation models.
