The growth of religious attitudes in the modern world has a significant impact on the socio-political processes, which indicates the need of society in filling the spiritual life with moral content, which is based on religious values. At the same time, politicization of religion is taking place, connected with the use of religious ideas by political actors for the realization of their goals. The church in modern countries is an influential social institution that builds its activities with the state on the basis of mutual understanding and trust, taking into account the realization of its own interests. Interaction between religious organizations and the state takes place on a legal basis, taking into account the historical role of the church in the formation of the nation and civil society, which is a key factor in the construction of a modern society. The Russian Orthodox Church in modern Russia was institutionalized as a political entity that can influence various processes both in the country and abroad. Actively participating in the public and state life of the country, the ROC firmly upholds its position, persistently advances its interests and follows the principle of not allowing state structures to penetrate church affairs, while remaining the most important subject of the public sphere.
