The article presents the results of a pilot study of the correlation between the representations about a political leader and the personal values among Slovak and Russian students. Personal values were studied in the contexts of the theoretical approach of S. Schwartz, where he highlights the role of values in the development of one’s motivational profile. Other measures were: personal identity (by "Who Am I?" method) and the image of a politician ("The Image of a Political Leader" scale). The data show the differences in the values among Slovak and Russian students, as well as the correlations between the representations about an ideal politician and the personal values. The study showed that the ideal politician for young people is a modern professional.
