The article examines the philosophical and social origins of the image of Medea in the tragedy by Euripides, analyzes the similarities of this image with the life and work of Aspasia as a possible prototype of Medea, and concludes that Euripides' views on the need for the emancipation of women and raising the level of their education are revolutionary.
