The article gives an essay of the history of the perception of the creative heritage of one of the main representatives of Portuguese romantic prose, and also examines the difficulties that arise when translating the works of C. Castel Branco into Russian, using as example of the novel “Fallen Angel” (A Queda dum Anjo) .
