The purpose of the study is a comparative analysis of psychological assistance to athletes in Russia and other countries with a high level of development of sports and sports sciences. The differences in the requirements for the qualifications of a sports psychologist in different countries have been revealed. The features of the organization are described psychological support of athletes in Russia and abroad. Domestic and foreign sports psychologists have found common tasks and differences in working with athletes.
