This article discusses the lexical units of the lexico-semantic field aroma/smell. The analysis of the empirical material confirms the thesis that the smells of everyday discourse in the context of romantic intercourse are determined by the relationships between lovers and therefore acquire a new romantic content. The minimal set of mechanisms and tools for verbalization of olfactory phenomena caused by lack of specific vocabulary is supplemented by nouns, adjectives and verbs that make up the periphery of the lexical-semantic field «smell» in the romantic discourse.
