In my paper, I reconstruct the systematical role of the philosophical inquiry into religion in G.W.F. Hegel and F.W.J. Schelling. I show that Hegel interprets philosophy of religion as one of divisions of philosophy of spirit. I his view, religion repeats the moments of the structure of the absolute idea. Therefore, science of logic which represents this structure underlines philosophy of religion. Schelling deals with religion in the framework of his philosophy of revelation which is a part of positive philosophy as a science of existence. Both philosophers think that religion and philosophy are closely related to each other in accordance to their content. However, Hegel believes that philosophy sublates religion. In opposition to him, Schelling finds that religion in its historical facticity conserves its proper principle.
