Criminal trial is the final stage of criminal proceedings. Technological advances make the role of forensics in judicial proceedings grow steadily and objectively. If the court applies forensic achievements and methods of forensic support of a trial, it guarantees that human rights and freedoms will be observed, and the court will be able to evaluate evidence reasonably and perform necessary judicial investigative actions. It makes sense to develop specific forensic methods for judicial proceedings by types and groups of crimes, taking into account characteristics of various stages of proceedings. The paper proposes to consider patterns of court activities in a criminal trial as belonging to the subject of forensic science. Forensic support of a criminal trial means a system of modern forensic knowledge and subsequent abilities and skills of persons administering justice in using forensic recommendations and applying forensic tools for judicial protection of human rights and freedoms, the exercise of powers in order to determine a defendant’s guilt or innocence, research and evaluation of evidence, and delivering a legal, reasonable and fair sentence.
