This article is devoted to the study of the impact of news messages in the social network VKontakte on the political consciousness of citizens. The specificity of political consciousness at the stage of formation of the information society is studied. Data of the pilot study are analyzed in the article, the author shows the priority sources of information, the perception of the political public sphere and the public opinion on news public pages of VKontakte's users.
