The article presents a diachronic corpus research of secondary imperfectivation of the Russian verb and, in this connection, discusses the significance of the secondary imperfectivation in the theory of Russian aspect. Besides, the development trend of secondary imperfectivation is discussed: its expansion, contraction or relative stability.
