The article discusses the semantic structure of perfect as a crosslinguistic grammatical category with reference to the corresponding grammeme in Spanish. The discussion is focused on the semantic scope
of perfect with a list of four types of perfect, their mutual relationship, including their (non-)reducibility to an invariant. The study of language material gathered in two (micro)corpora leads to a conclusion that the
traditional typological list of types of perfect is not fully applicable to the Spanish Perfect. Besides, the results of the analysis give grounds to consider “current relevance” to be the invariant meaning of the grammeme of perfect (or at least of Spanish Perfect).
