The purpose of this article is to investigate some aspects of inter-religious relations by analyzing the data collected in a survey of St. Petersburg's residents in 2016. The research mainly focuses on the issue of attitudes of non-Muslim citizens towards the Muslim population of St. Petersburg as well as to Islam itself. The issue of inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations in Russia is among the most significant and important questions that require constant and close attention from the authorities, scholars, and the society. Undoubtedly, the multinational and multicultural milieu of Russian Federation necessitates elaboration of competent policy in the aforementioned sphere, the strategy which can responsively react to the modern challenges and changes. Furthermore, preventive measures contributing to decrease in xenophobic attitudes provided on a regular basis should be designed. In order to implement such policy and measures it seems necessary to make thorough research of these issues in its static as well as dynamic dimension. Therefore the public opinion survey represents an important tool for the current research.
