In this work, that part of the iconography of Maxim Gorky (photo, paintings,
caricatures), where the famous writer is presented on the background of the literary
environment, is systematized. The study, based on the interpretation of visual images,
helps to clarify Gorky’s relationship with venerable Russian and foreign writers, as well
as with beginning authors.
