Over the past 70 years the Indian pharmaceutical industry witnessed transforma-tion and rapid growth . Due to successful industrial policy, India became one of theleaders of global generic production . This article aims to study the results of theimport substitution policy in the Indian pharmaceutical industry; to determinethe factors contributed to the development of Indian pharmaceutical industry andto determine the possibility of applying successful Indian practice in Russia .
