The problem of approximation of the hypergeometric law, which takes into account both the large volume of the population and the sample size, arises in the procedures of sample control. In the article the variants of approximation of hypergeometric distribution by known distributions are considered, a new approximation by binomial distribution is proposed. Analytical estimates of the error are given for the classical and proposed variants of the approximation. Numerical error estimates are made for all variants of approximations.
