The article offers an analysis of one of the iconic and common biblical phraseological
units - to pour out one's soul. The texts of the Holy Scriptures in which this expression is used are
given, their semantics and style are characterized. Parallels of this phraseologism in different languages are demonstrated, common and different in their structure and stylistic coloring are revealed. The use of this biblical language in Russian prose and poetic texts is analyzed.
