The article deals with the issue of language training and bilingual consciousness formation of law students in the modern Russian higher education system. The author provides an overview of academic papers by highly respected researchers in the field of Russian psycholinguistics from the point of view of significance of the concept of a secondary linguistic personality for professional linguodidactics. Some peculiarities of a secondary linguistic personality formation in a higher education system are noted. Some pedagogical conditions for achieving foreign language teaching goals as part of the implementation of Bachelor’s degree programs in Law are added. It is also shown that for the effective formation of a secondary linguistic personality, while teaching English we shift the emphasis from a purely linguistic (formal) function of thinking to a higher level — the level of consciousness, which, on the one hand, is refracted by the linguistic content, and on the other, determined by it
