Intensive development of domestic and incoming tourism in the Russian Federation is now proclaimed one of the priorities of state policy and is undoubtedly becoming a key trend in the progress of the domestic tourism industry. The Astrakhan region is not the most sought-after in this respect region in Russia, but the diversity of its natural and cultural heritage provides excellent prospects for potential investors. The study of the history of the Selitrennoe ancient settlement, with which the capital of the Golden Horde of the city of Saray-Batu is identified, and its present state allows us to conclude that this monument of archeology and culture is popular not only among researchers but also among modern travelers. The analysis of the latest historiography, periodical press materials, as well as other published sources and, in particular, Internet resources make it possible to compile a comprehensive view of all aspects of the excursion and tourism potential of this facility and the possibilities for its promotion in the tourism market.
