Prevailing TS approach to the analysis of ‘cultural adaptation' of websites involves a simplified interpretation of the localization process and a generalized understanding of the cultural features of different locales. G. Hofstede's method provides an empirical basis to the study of the cultural aspects of website localization. Using this method in translator training programs allows for structured cross-cultural analysis of websites, including content, design and search engine optimization.
